ST. JOSEPH -- Harold E. Chute, 82, St. Joseph, died Sunday, April 22, 2001, at home.
He was born June 12, 1918, in Aitkin to H. Edward and Julia (Hoving) Chute. He married Eleanor Johnson on March 14, 1941, in Aitkin. She died on Nov. 7, 1980. He married Beata Wolak on Feb. 14, 1984, in St. Cloud. He served in the Navy Seabees during World War II. He worked for Megarry Brothers and other road building companies from 1939-1983 when he retired. . He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the International Union of Operating Engineers and a lifetime member of the VFW No. 428.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Janey Czeck, North St. Paul, Julie Schreifels, Brooklyn Park, Janet Welle, Rockville, June Anderson, Zimmerman, and Joyce Chute, Zimmerman; a son, Peter Chute, Minneapolis; 11 stepchildren; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Russell and Robert Chute, Aitkin.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church in St. Cloud with the Rev. Daniel and the Rev. Katie Schneider-Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Aitkin with full military honors provided by VFW Post 1727 and the American Legion Post 86 of Aitkin.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph, with the VFW Post No. 428 praying at 6:30 p.m., and an hour before services Thursday at the church in St. Cloud.
