Helen Smith's watercolor art is on display in the Brainerd Public Library through July 3. Smith, a retired speech therapist and currently a secretary with the Encore Arts Association, learned her craft through classes at Central Lakes College.

Phyllis Frankum's art is on display at Brainerd City Hall through June as part of an Encore Art Club exhibit. She has worked in a variety of media, including oil, acrylic and watercolor. Frankum, who has taught with the Brainerd Community Education program, counts flowers and the outdoors as her favorite subjects.

Virginia MacArthur's watercolor art is on display at Brainerd City Hall through June as part of an Encore Art Club exhibit. The longtime Brainerd resident has an art degree from the University of Minnesota. MacArthur likes to eliminate unnecessary detail and focus on the basic elements of shape, color, balance and mood.
