20 years ago (1982)

The first statewide Knowledge Bowl competition will take place Tuesday, April 27 at the Fergus Falls Senior High School. Twelve teams including Brainerd have advanced to state competition.

30 years ago (1972)

Willmar is about to lose its city bus service because the bus company reports a lack of use. In Brainerd, the bus has proved to be important to older people who have no transportation. Additional action by the council will be required this summer if the subsidy is to be continued.

40 years ago (1962)

Lt. Gov. Karl Rolvaag will be the featured speaker at the dedication of the Brainerd Labor Temple here. The building was formally the Riverside School.

60 years ago (1942)

Approximately 200 members of the Victory Aides serving Brainerd under the direction of Mrs. A.C. Mraz in the jurisdiction of the Brainerd Defense Council, reserved their identification arm bands, hand books and general instructions.

80 years ago (1922)

A light rainfall pattered down today and disturbed the equanimity of housewives engaged in laundry washing occupations.

100 years ago (1902)

There is a new signboard up at the corner of the Bay Lake and Mille Lacs roads. Hope it will save some travelers getting out of their road four or five miles, as strangers have been in the habit of doing.
