Frieda N. (Anderson) Eklund

NISSWA -- Frieda N. (Anderson) Eklund, 92, Nisswa, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at home.

She was born Aug. 14, 1910, in Aseda, Sweden, to Frans Gustav and Matilda Melstrom. She immigrated from Sweden in the fall of 1928. She worked as a housekeeper and nanny in Chicago. She became a United States citizen in 1957. She married Philip Anderson on June 6, 1931, in Chicago. They moved to the Minneapolis area and lived there until moving to Nisswa in 1963. He died July 17, 1963. She married Edward John Ecklund on Feb. 22, 1978. He died Jan. 27, 1986.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Anderson, Coon Rapids, and Charley Anderson, Nisswa; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

An infant daughter, Joann; four sisters, Hilma, Ester, Agnes and Olga; and two brothers, Ernest and Carl, died earlier.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd with Pastor Ralph Hegman officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Nisswa. Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph's Hospice Program or Heartland Animal Rescue Team.

Friends may call an hour before services Friday at the funeral home.
