Central Lakes College students in Kari Frisch's interpersonal communication class were asked to perform a task requiring all 24 to stand on a tarp and flip it over without leaving the tarp.
Leah Fossum (kneeling, left) and Lori Kruse (holding corner of tarp) led the way in this exercise in conflict resolution. After flipping the tarp once, it is folded in half and the group repeats the process in half the space. They succeeded. Then, despite being one-quarter its original size, the tarp was flipped, with two dozen students in a space five feet by 10 feet. They ran out of time during progress toward a record third flip.
"They showed positive attitude, determination and implementation of productive communication skills," said Frisch.
