STAPLES - Rachael Hoemberg was 5-for-6 with a home run and double and Abby Edin pitched a no-hitter as Staples-Motley defeated Crosby-Ironton 11-0 and 20-0 in Mid-State Conference play Tuesday.
Edin was the winning pitcher in both games, tossing a five-inning no-hitter in Game Two that followed a five-inning complete-game shutout in Game One in which she collected 12 strikeouts while allowing one hit.
Angie Bernstrom was 3-for-4 with two triples and a double in the second game.
Kelli Roline was 2-for-2 in the first game and tripled in the second.

Lauren Landrus had two doubles and a single and finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Ellen Raushel was 3-5 with two RBIs, Kelsey Klucas 2-5 with two RBIs and Miranda Paulson 3-4 with a double, two singles and two RBIs.
Winning pitcher Emily Mehr went seven innings, allowed three hits and two walks and struck out two.

W-DC sweeps Pequot
PEQUOT LAKES - Wadena-Deer Creek swept Pequot Lakes 20-10 and 17-8 in a Mid-State Conference doubleheader Tuesday.
The Patriots fought back from an 8-1 deficit in Game One to go up 10-8, but the Patriots'' defense imploded in the bottom of the fifth to allow eight unearned runs. Sam Holweger went 3-for-5 with a double and home run for the Wolverines. Kaiti Pahl was 2-for-3 with two runs scored for Pequot Lakes.
Stephanie Perkins, Lexi Hoemberg and Megan Popp had multiple-hit contests for Wadena-Deer Creek in the Game Two victory.

Nicole Marcy finished the game for Pillager by going 2-for-3 and Emily Doss went 2-4.
