HACKENSACK -- Loren Albert William Alderson, 82, of Hackensack, Minn., died at his home on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, after an extended illness.
Loren was born Nov. 28, 1922, in Cylinder, Iowa, the son of Harvey and Nellie (Meyers) Alderson. He attended high school in Cylinder and then went on to trade school in Des Moines, Iowa, before beginning a farming career. On March 21, 1946, he married Eleanor Diveney. They farmed in Iowa until moving to Walker in 1960, where they were owners/operators of the Birchwood Resort. Loren guided on Leech Lake for many years, was an avid fisherman, and also loved to hunt. He retired in 1995 and was widowed in 1997. He was an active member of the Union Congregational Church of Hackensack.
He is survived by his companion, Virginia Anderson, of Hackensack, Minn.; two sons, Eugene (Beth) Alderson, of Walker, Minn., and William (Jeanyne) Alderson, of Pine River, Minn.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Glen Alderson, of West Bend, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor; and two brothers, Wayne Alderson and Ervin Alderson.
Services will be held at the Union Congregational Church in Hackensack at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2005, with the Rev. Michael Small officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, family would prefer that memorials be made to the Union Congregational Church Scholarship Fund or to the Park Rapids Hospice.
