The Baxter Police Department is asking for the public's help in finding a man who stole clothing from Mills Fleet Farm and attempted to assault the store's loss prevention specialists with a knife.
Baxter Police Chief James Exsted said about 1:15 p.m. Thursday Fleet Farm's loss prevention specialists tried to stop a man who had attempted to steal clothing from the store.
The man resisted being detained, Exsted said, and while fighting with the loss prevention specialists he pulled out a small pocket knife.
No one was hurt in the altercation, Exsted said. The man fled from the store and the loss prevention specialists chased the man for about two blocks until losing the suspect, he said.
The suspect is described as a white male between the ages of 30-40, between 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall and between 160-175 pounds. The suspect has short brown hair and a goatee. He was wearing a red Nike shirt and a tan, button-up collared shirt and blue jeans.
The suspect is believed to have been picked up in a silver four-door 1997-2001 Ford Escort, driven by a white male between the ages of 30-40.
Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Baxter Police Department at (218) 855-5090.
