TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- The best-selling memoir for Sen. John McCain could be hitting the big screen.
Producers Robert Michael Geisler and John Roberdeau purchased film rights to the book "Faith of My Fathers" earlier this year for an undisclosed sum and are planning a feature film, the Arizona Daily Star reported Sunday.
Geisler and Roberdeau produced the 1998 World War II drama "The Thin Red Line."
The Arizona Republican and 2000 presidential candidate said he chose the producers in part because their fathers were in the military.
"I know they will bring to the subject both affection for the honor of military legacies and an appreciation for the challenges they impose," McCain said in a statement.
Roberdeau said he was compelled by McCain's experiences as a prisoner of war in North Vietnam at a time when his father, Adm. Jack McCain, was assuming command of U.S. forces in the Pacific.
Danson to portray medium
RADNOR, Pa. (AP) -- Ted Danson will portray a spiritual medium he consulted in real life to try to contact his late father.
Danson stars as best-selling medium James Van Praagh in the CBS movie "Living with the Dead" on April 28 and 30.
It turns out the role might not be much of a stretch for Danson, who stars the CBS sitcom "Becker."
After network executives sent a script and offer to Danson, they learned that subject and star had met a week earlier.
"I had been to Ted's house just that week before to do a spiritual reading for him and his wife, Mary Steenburgen," Van Praagh said. "Now, how wild is that? It all seemed to be part of a divine plan."
Danson told TV Guide for its April 27 issue that he believes he made contact with his late father through Van Praagh.
Maguire is one hot ticket
DENVER (AP) -- Tobey Maguire, star of the upcoming "Spider-Man" movie, was the hottest ticket at the 25th annual StarFest.
"I guess it's kind of pathetic," Metro State College freshman Michelle Barrett said of her jubilance. "But I can't help it. He's soooo hot!"
The three-day StarFest, which ended Sunday, drew about 18,000 fans of sci-fi, fantasy, horror -- and Maguire.
Only the lucky 100 fans who won a raffle were eligible for autographs from Maguire.
"I'm still shaking," Barrett said as she left with a signed "Spider-Man" poster under her arm.
