A bikini oil wrestling event planned at a downtown Brainerd bar had been nixed.
The Brainerd City Council on Monday unanimously denied a wrestling license application from Liquor Pigz Sports Bar for the bikini oil wrestling event scheduled Saturday.
In recommending denial of the permit, Brainerd Police Chief John Bolduc said the event wouldn't be allowed by zoning ordinance as an adult cabaret and because adult uses and liquor licenses cannot be issued jointly for the same property.
Brainerd resident Steve Wolff spoke in favor of the event, saying from a business standpoint it would be a draw to downtown Brainerd. But during the public forum of Monday's meeting, Wolff said he misunderstood what the license application was for and was not actually in favor of bikini oil wrestling.
No council members spoke on the license request.
