Raiders split doubleheader with Norse

VIRGINIA - Despite committing nine errors that led to five unearned runs, the Central Lakes College Raiders women's softball team collected an 11-8 victory over the Mesabi Range Norse in game one of a North Division doubleheader Friday.

Brittany Thorson went 4-for-6 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored and Megan Anderson was 3-6 with two doubles and two RBIs. Jess Michaels went 2-4 with a run and a RBI and Izzy Anderson was 2-5 with two stolen bases. Lindsey Jourdan added three RBIs.

Malorie Riewer pitched 10 innings, giving up 13 hits, eight runs in which three were earned and one walk. Riewer struck out seven Mesabi batters in the process of picking up the win.

VIRGINIA - Megan Anderson continued her tear with the bat as she went 2-3 with a solo home run, two runs and two RBIs as the Raiders dropped game two 8-6.

Brittany Thorson was 1-3 with a double and RBI and Jess Michaels was 1-3 with a double and a run scored.

Ali Mathiason pitched six innings, giving up eight hits and eight runs. She struck out three in the loss.
