'Sky's' the limit
Central Lakes College Theatre gets broody in its production of the noir murder mystery "Earth and Sky." The play will be staged 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday at the Chalberg Theatre on the Brainerd campus. Tickets are $5 for the public and free for CLC students.
Music from the Heartland
The Heartland Symphony Orchestra will present "Merry Ol' England" 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Charles D. Martin Auditorium at Little Falls High School and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Tornstrom Auditorium, Washington Educational Services Building, in Brainerd. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students.
Comedy of contrast
Chad Daniels, known for his comedy comparing big- and small-town life, will perform 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Scott Hansen's Comedy Gallery at the Rail in downtown Brainerd. Tickets are $5-$10. Ages 18 and older are welcome Friday; 21 and older Saturday.
Idols in action
Area Idol action heats up this weekend: Crosslake Idol and 40 Club Idol will choose a few more finalists during preliminary rounds 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Exchange in Crosslake and 9 p.m. Friday at the 40 Club in Aitkin. And at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Izatys near Wahkon, the new Izatys Idol will be crowned. Admission is free to all these events, but show up early if you want a good seat.
The final curtain
The theater program at Franklin Junior High School, which will close next month, will bow out in appropriate fashion with "That's a Wrap," a musical collage of tunes from 20 years of plays at the Brainerd school. It will be staged 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium. Tickets are $5 for adults, $2 for students and free for children 5 and younger.
