PEQUOT LAKES -- John "Mac" Goble II, 71, Pequot Lakes, died Thursday, April 19, 2001, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd.
He was born Nov. 23, 1929, in Pequot Lakes to Drew and Hazel (Killin) Goble. He served as a chief petty officer with the Navy in the Special Forces Pacific Fleet for 20 years and in the Reserves for more than five years. After the service, he returned to Pequot Lakes where he worked in the woods, cutting and selling trees. He taught hunting safety at the Pillager school and advanced hunting education throughout Minnesota. He worked for the DNR/Park Services for 20 years. He worked until he became ill last year and moved to the Bethany Good Samaritan Village in February 2001. He was a member of the Jenkins VFW.
Survivors include a daughter, Dawn Meyer, Shoreview; a son, John "Jack" Goble III, Miami; two grandchildren; a brother, Henry Goble, Remer; and a special friend, Jackee Price, Pillager.
Two brothers, Marion and Andrew, died earlier.
Services will be 1-3 p.m. today at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
