STAPLES -- A demonstration clinic on the proper way to prune blueberry plants and install irrigation soil water sensors will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 8, at the Central Lakes Ag Center in Staples.
The center is located just west of Central Lakes College on the north side of Staples. This free clinic will be conducted outside in the berry patch. Refreshments will be available at 6:15 p.m.
Dave Wildung, horticulturist from the University of Minnesota North Central Research and Outreach Center, will lead the demonstration on pruning the blueberry patch. Bring pruners and give it a try. Wildung will also be available to answer any other production questions.
Jerry Wright, extension engineer from the West Central Research and Outreach Center, will demonstrate how to install soil water sensors to aid in deciding when to irrigate.
If it's raining the evening of May 8, the clinic will be held Wednesday, May 10, starting at the same time. For more information call Mel Weins at the Ag Center at 894-5162 or Wesley Urdahl at 824-1065.
