There is some great news for us! The best news that we could ever hope to share with anyone: Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected on the third day for our salvation!
Old news, you might think? Perhaps so, but it is news nevertheless to millions who hear the gospel for the first time -- and it is badly needed news for all who fall short of what God has created us to be.
We need this news, too. We've probably heard it before, but we still need it. I hope that it never grows old, that we never get tired of hearing the good news that Jesus died for us, that he now lives for us, that we can live in eternity with God because of what Jesus Christ has done for us.
This is marvelous news, ever fresh, always relevant, always needed. In our day-to-day walk with Christ, we slip and fall. We mess up. And because we love God, we must not take our sins lightly. They are a slap in the face to the God we have ignored or disobeyed. We must be very aware of sin, of our human tendency to sin.
That is why we need the gospel every day. We need to hear the wonderful news -- that Jesus died for our sins, not just our past sins, but the sins we commit today and tomorrow. The gospel is always relevant to our needs, because we need it every day.
1 John 1:8-9, tells us, "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."
