MINNEAPOLIS -- Victoria Peterson, 51, Brainerd, died Monday, April 16, 2001.
She was born Jan. 30, 1950, in Los Angeles. She and her family moved to St. Paul and lived there until 1973 when she graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in art. She worked as a buyer for a major clothing store in St. Paul, and had several teaching jobs in Montana and Minnesota until she moved to Brainerd in 1982. She received a lung transplant and spoke to civic organizations about organ donation. She was active in and was instrumental in starting an organ transplant support group in Brainerd. She founded HART humane society of Brainerd in 1987. HART operated out of her home for two years until a building was available.
Survivors include two sons, Will and Robert; her husband, Paul; and her mother, Gertrude Heitmiller.
Services will be noon Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church, 60 Kent St., St. Paul. Memorials are preferred to HART to start a permanent fund for animal welfare.
