Warrior girls win Moorhead meet

MOORHEAD - The Brainerd girls' team finished first and Warrior boys and girls combined to win seven individual events in the Moorhead MAA Invite track and field meet Friday at Concordia College.

In the girls' meet, Brainerd scored 161 points to defeat West Fargo by 36 points.

Warrior winners were Sam Underhill in shot put, Kelsi Ring in triple jump and Hannah McAllister in the 800-meter run.

Brainerd finished 1-2-3-4 in the triple jump. Following Ring were Madison Smith, Allison Reuer and Sam Smith.

"That was huge," Warrior girls' coach Dan Clabo said.

Jenna Dean was runner-up in the 3200 run and Sam Smith was second in the long jump.

Tom Lyscio won the shot put.

Brainerd placed third in the boys' meet with 118 points, trailing Moorhead's 143 and Fargo South's 140.

Tom Lyscio won the shot put at 54-7 and discus at 155-0. Ryan Barnes won the high jump at 6-2 and Luke Delaney paced the 1600 run.

"We had a good day," Warrior boys' coach Rod Reuer said. "We competed pretty well. We had some nice competition. We saw a very good Bemidji team, which was a surprise."

Boys team scores: 1-Moorhead 143, 2-Fargo South 140, 3-Brainerd 118, 4-Bemidji 114, 5-West Fargo 99, 6-Alexandria 66, 7-(tie) Fergus Falls and Wahpeton, N.D., 3
