I'd like to remind those driving the Wise Road of the three-way stop at the Beaver Dam detour. I've been driving my grandson to school and each time I come to that stop sign, I hold my breath. I've seen several attempts of near mishaps, noted as vehicle accidents. It's a change, people. Please be more alert. I don't want to be a statistic along with my grandson. We sometimes are creatures of habit and get lost in the norm. This is a great change.
School board should do right thing
It is very clear by reading about the final four that it should be named the final two. Those two candidates are from Eagan and Waconia. The Brainerd School District needs some new blood. These two candidates are far more experienced than our hometown boys. I hope the school board does the right thing for our community and district. By the way, does anyone else in this community feel that school board members should have limited terms?
Post office on tax day
On April 15, at the Brainerd Post Office, I waited from 5 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. to be waited on at the window. There were only two employees working at the window on tax day. There should have been three people working. There was a lineup almost all the way to the entry door. I hope this doesn't happen next year.
Criteria for candidates
I really can't understand what criteria the Brainerd School Board was using when choosing superintendent candidate finalists. It turns out that two of the finalists don't even have one day of experience as a superintendent. They certainly wouldn't consider putting someone so unqualified in charge of 450 teachers and 7,000 students. At this point, the district needs a skilled, experienced leader, not someone who would need on-the-job training.
Signs are unclear
I've read the article entitled "Stop signs posted at detour site," referring to the stop that's in place at the intersection of Wise Road and Beaver Dam Road. I use that road frequently and have been really confused myself. The signs going toward the intersection say "Traffic control change ahead." But I didn't know what that meant. It'd be much more helpful if they'd put up a sign that says 4-way stop ahead even if it's really a 3-way stop but at least it would tell people what kind of a change to expect once they get there.
I saw a bus driver on the northeast side of town fly through a stop sign, cross the railroad tracks right in front of me and I thought to myself, 'That's good. Break the law. Almost cause an accident.' Do you guys really not care that much and stuff or is it just, "Oh well?"
