20 years ago (1988)

The Brainerd Warriors defeated Pequot Lakes 408-420 in an 18 hole golf meet at Whitefish Country Club. The Warriors Mike Owens took medalist honors with a 38 on the front nine and 40 on the back.

30 years ago (1978)

Montgomery Ward in Brainerd dedicated its sale to Mike Michelson, department manager for furniture and floor covering, who celebrated 42 years of continuous service with Ward's April 18.

40 years ago (1968)

Miss Lynn Sandberg of Pillager recently named Minnesota State Homemaker of Tomorrow and her faculty adviser, Mrs. Bob Miller, boarded a plane at the airport here at 8:15 a.m. Sunday on the first lap of an exciting fun-filled five days.

60 years ago (1948)

There will be a layoff of 40 men from the car shops in Brainerd. Together with a recent layoff of 90 men this new lay-off order included a total of 130 men laid off indefinitely.

80 years ago (1928)

Edwin S. Houghton, jeweler and optician in Brainerd for the past 28 years, announced the sale of his establishment at 211 South Sixth St., to Stanley Vanek, of Seattle, Wash.

100 years ago (1908)
