FIRES

A busy fire season continues for DNR and area firefighters.

From April 11 through Monday, the DNR has put out 37 fires that burned 404 acres. Of those fires, 10 occurred in the past week. Most have burned grasslands, though 21 acres of forests burned in the past week. Fire crews from Mission, Crosslake, Pillager, Ideal and Brainerd townships have assisted the DNR in putting out these fires.

Burning indexes reached a season high on Monday as warm weather and high winds had area firefighters on alert. Burning restrictions remain in effect throughout Minnesota.
