20 years ago (1985)

Roy Speed, Brained, recently received a pin and certificate marking his 50 years as a member of the International Typographical Union. Speed, a retired printer with The Brainerd Daily Dispatch began serving his apprenticeship in 1929.

30 years ago (1975)

Glen Gustafson, Brainerd attorney, is the new president of the Brainerd Quarterbacks Club. Named to new positions along with Gustafson are Eldon Simonson, vice president; Loren Thompson, secretary; and Bill Bard, treasurer.

40 years ago (1965)

The Land O'Lakes milk and ice cream plant here is planning to expand its operation if it can get the needed property.

60 years ago (1945)

There were indications today in official circles in Brainerd that this city may unite with other cities in the state in rebellion against the Sun Time bill passed by the Legislature and signed by Gov. Ed Thye.

80 years ago (1925)

Standard Oil Co. of Indiana today reduced the price of gasoline one cent a gallon. The gas price in Brainerd is now 18 cents a gallon on tank wagons and 20 cents a gallon at the filling stations.

100 years ago (1905)

The Brainerd High School team went to Aitkin this afternoon to play the high school team of that city a game of baseball.
