BACKUS -- Lee Reynolds, 101, Backus, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Center in Pine River.
He was born Dec. 13, 1901, in Bladensburg, Iowa, to Benjamin and Ava (Mathes) Reynolds. He attended grade school in Iowa and southern Minnesota, later moving to Canada. In 1917, they moved to Sylvan Lake near Backus. He married Lela Tilbury on Aug. 19, 1933, in Backus. He farmed and worked as a carpenter building homes in the Backus and Pine River areas for many years.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Donald Reynolds, St. Paul; a daughter, Donna Holden, Backus; a foster son, Daniel Mitchell, Backus; a foster daughter, Mitzi Hanson, Walker; three grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; five foster grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and four foster great-grandchildren.
A brother, Elmer, died earlier.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Church of the Nazarene in Backus with Pastor Phil Cox officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Backus.
Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until services Monday at the church.
