Bob Meeks, St. Peter, formerly of Walker, was named executive director of the Minnesota School Boards Association's board of directors.
Meeks will take the post July 1. He earned a bachelor's degree from Bemidji State University, where he also did graduate work.
Crow Wing County committee to meet
The Crow Wing County/Thirty Lakes Watershed District Joint Powers Board's I-Team Committee will meet 9 a.m. April 30 at Baxter City Hall.
Community funds available
The Crow Wing County Family Services Collaborative is issuing a one-time round of community funds to promote grassroots initiatives.
This round's $50,000 is limited to projects/activities that serve the geographic area of the Brainerd School District. The collaborative has incorporated a process of results-based accountability to be used by the projects.
The collaborative is interested in projects that will have a positive effect on children, youths and families. Funding review and selection will be carried out by Community Asset Builders and the CARE children and families subcommittee.
Funds will be disbursed in up to two grants of $10,000 each with the remainder in grants of $5,000 or less.

The application deadline is May 16 for proposals to be reviewed at the May CARE/CAB meeting.
If any funds remain after the May meeting, proposals received after May 16 will be considered at the June CARE/CAB meeting. Proposals must be postmarked by midnight of the deadline.
