Easter is one of the main festivals of Christianity. It is observed around the world.

The Easter message focuses on the resurrection victory of God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, from the grave. Historically, the Easter festival goes back to the Old Testament Passover celebration when God's people were freed from slavery and pyramid building in Egypt.

The first Old Testament Passover took place when the Lord instructed the Israelites to take a lamb without spot or blemish, and slay it and roast it on a fire. The blood of the lamb was to be sprinkled on the doorposts of the homes where the Israelites lived and were preparing the Passover meal.

That night, the angel of death passed over all the Israelite homes that had the doorposts marked with the blood of the paschal lamb and smote the first-born in all the Egyptian homes. This event is known as the Lord's Passover.

This paschal lamb, without spot or blemish, pictured the New Testament lamb of God, Jesus Christ. John the Baptist revealed this matter when he pointed to Jesus and said: "Behold the lamb of God, which takes away the sins of the world." Prophet Isaiah in his time foretold of that day when Jesus would be brought as a lamb to the slaughter(Isa. 53).

Jesus made his final trip to Jerusalem with his disciples for this Passover remembrance. There, this Old Testament meal took on a new significance. Jesus himself became the paschal lamb, who gave his life and shed his blood to overcome the power of the destroyer. With his victorious resurrection, Jesus released mankind from the captivity of sin. Apostle Paul taught that Jesus was delivered for our transgressions, and raised again for our justification. Thus, salvation is entirely a grace gift of God.

This message of the resurrection victory is still alive today and is found in the midst of God's grace kingdom. There, the children of God have the doorposts of their hearts sprinkled with the blood of the Lamb of God. They believe the forgiveness of all their sins in Jesus' name and blood.

This gospel continues to be offered to all people. God wishes to approach you who feel burdened because of wrong deeds and sin. Jesus teaches to seek first the kingdom of God and its righteousness. There this message of forgiveness can be heard. One then becomes free from the burdens of sin and experiences the true Easter resurrection victory.
