Brainerd High School girls' soccer coach Steve Kimble will be the Lakes Area Youth Soccer Association's director of player development this summer.
Kimble, a graduate of St. John's University in Collegeville, teaches multi-media at Mississippi Horizons and coaches pole vaulters for the Warrior boys' and girls' track teams. He was a NCAA All-American decathlete and St. John's track and field MVP.
In Kimble's first season as coach of the Warrior girls' soccer team, Brainerd posted its best-ever record, scored the most goals in a season and allowed the fewest goals in a season.
This summer, Kimble will provide basic and advanced training to boys' and girls' LAYSA teams. He will also collaborate with Doug Hendricks, LAYSA director of coaching development, to provide guidance for new coaches.
LAYSA has advanced U-15 and U-17 girls' teams to play at the Classic I level this summer. Classic I is the second highest level of play in the state.
