BEMIDJI -- Brainerd High School graduate Derek Owen went 6-for-10 in three games as the Bemidji State University baseball team won three of four games from Wayne State last weekend.
Owen, the Beavers' designated hitter, doubled, homered and had three RBI. He is batting .500 with a slugging percentage of .844.
BSU, (7-3 in the NSIC, 12-6 overall, hosts Minnesota-Morris Saturday and Sunday.

JV baseball team defeats Tech
The Brainerd Warriors junior varsity baseball team opened the season Monday with a 13-11 victory over St. Cloud Tech at Adamson Field.
Brainerd led 6-0 in the second game when it was called.
Tony Parrish finished the night 5-for-6 with two triples and a double. Mark Germain finished 2-4, Andy Pickar 3-5, Chris Klabo 3-6 and Jason Sather 3-7. Germain and Ryan Gerou earned the pitching wins.
Skogen to speak to boosters club
Brainerd Warriors girls' track and field coach Geri Skogen will be the speaker at the Brainerd Sports Boosters Club meeting, which begins noon Thursday at the Sharing Bread Soup Kitchen.
The soup kitchen is located at 923 Oak St. between the Triangle Store and Temple Baptist Church. Parking is available behind the church or on 10th Street..
Baseball player Joey Tautges, the Warrior Athlete of the Week, will be honored.
