Clutch hitting helps Flyers edge Tech

LITTLE FALLS -- Paul Herman singled in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Little Falls Flyers a 3-2 Central Lakes Conference victory over the St. Cloud Tech Tigers Tuesday.

Mike Schwientek went 2-for-3 with a double and RBI and Herman went 2-3 with two RBI.

WADENA -- The Crosby-Ironton Rangers and Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines split in Mid-State Conference baseball action Tuesday.

The Rangers won the first game as Nick Dovres pitched a complete game. Aaron Johnson went 3-for-4 with a home run, while teammate Ben Baratto homered for the Rangers.

In the second game, the Wolverines pounded out 10 hits in an 11-3 win. Leyland Brincefield picked up the win. Logan Brincefield had had two hits, including a home run, for W-DC.

Ben Baratto hit his second home run of the day for the Rangers.

AITKIN -- Aitkin used a four-run sixth to overtake the Onamia Panthers 6-5 in baseball on Tuesday.

Levi Baer and Jerod Perry were 2-for-3 with Baer adding a couple of RBI for the Gobblers.

Josh Flier came on in relief in the fifth, striking out five while giving up two hits to pick up the victory.
