Central Lakes College, Brainerd and Staples, reports that Caterpillar Paving Products Inc., Minneapolis, has donated $2,000 to the school's Mechanical Drafting and Design program.
The funds were dedicated to the purchase of a three-dimensional plotter for the pro-engineer drafting portion of the program at the Staples campus.
Corey Robinson, instructor, and Brian Moriarity of Caterpillar oversaw the installation of the equipment.
CLC scholarships in memory
of Olsons to be offered
Students at Central Lakes College will benefit from the generosity of the late Cecil Ann and Alfred Olson of Brainerd. The couple designated $1,000 from their estate to be provided in the form of four $250 scholarships.
One scholarship per year will be awarded to an eligible horticulture student, starting with the fall term of 2002.
The Brainerd Lions Club has matched the donation, contributing $1,000 in memory of the Olsons. Diane Scearcy, executive director of the CLC Foundation, said the latest gift from the Lions is in addition to a $20,000 fund the organization has maintained for students at the college.
