20 years ago (1989)

Crow Wing County Court Administrator Darrell Paske said that he could not confirm whether the recently convened grand jury proceedings had resulted in an indictment.

30 years ago (1979)

Brainerd is not alone in not fluoridating its water supply. But it is the largest of 18 Minnesota communities that is not in accordance with the 1967 law.

40 years ago (1969)

Airman Frank Ball, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Ball, Brainerd, has completed basic training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. After a short leave he will be stationed at Grissom AFB in Indiana.

60 years ago (1949)

Don Stolz, youthful actor-director, will appear in both capacities here when The Glass Menagerie plays at the Franklin Junior High School auditorium. Stolz is best known as director of the Old Log Theater on Lake Minnetonka.

80 years ago (1929)

With tickets going fast, the Brainerd Ladies Band dance at the UCT Auditorium will attract many dancers from the area. Lou's Band has been secured to furnish the music.

100 years ago (1909)

Mrs. Martha Leach, of Gull Lake, for whom Judge Fleming has just secured a pension, has an interesting history. She is the widow of a Civil War veteran and is a Delaware Indian, one of the last remaining of that powerful tribe.
