Tension swelled for DNR firefighters Saturday as they faced the worst conditions for forest fires since 1980. The firefighters standing by at the Brainerd-Crow Wing County Airport were on "Red Flag Alert."

30 years ago (1977)

The Brainerd City Council voted to remove all parking meters in favor of enforced two-hour free parking.

It is reported that Brainerd will have additional yard room this summer to the extent of room for 300 railroad cars. Those tracks will be put in north and east of the foundry.
