BAXTER -- Work by JMS Companies on a project off Highway 371, near Morey's Market and Grille, was put on hold earlier this week after it was learned the contractor cut about 25 acres of trees without proper permits.
Baxter City Planner Todd Holman said JMS didn't have permits for grading or landscaping, which are required before tree cutting can occur. The logging happened last weekend, and was stopped after city staffers noticed the trees cut down early this week.
Holman said the city is reviewing enforcement options before deciding any penalties against JMS.
