ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- Rensselaer Polytechnic's Marc Cavosie, the Eastern College Athletic Conference player of the year, signed with the Minnesota Wild, giving up his last year of college eligibility.
"I've had a tremendous experience at RPI and I'm going to miss my teammates, coaches and the fans," he said. "However, my family and I agree that it's time I move on and take on the challenges of playing professionally. It's always been a dream of mine to play professional hockey, so to get this opportunity is amazing."
A fourth-round choice of the Wild in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the forward led the ECAC with 50 points, 27 assists, 22 power-play points and two shorthanded goals. He also capped the season with a 17-game scoring streak.
