A Kingwood Street home sustained about $25,000 in damage after a fire burned a portion of the upstairs, the Brainerd Fire Department reported today.
The fire was reported at 12:04 a.m. today at 25 Kingwood St.
The residents, Jeff and Melissa Birks, were at home at the time of the fire, but none of the family was injured, the fire department reported.
The fire is believed to have started in the attic, the fire department reported. The blaze burned a hole in the roof, and the upstairs had fire and smoke damage.
Firefighters were on the scene until about 2:15 a.m. The fire rekindled at 6:30 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
