Most of us in the Brainerd Lakes area are getting pretty tired of seeing snow and wearing heavy coats. We were teased with summer-like temperatures, the return of the robins and ice moving away from the shores. It's time to think spring
While basking in the sun and shooting a few baskets with Mariah on March 25 the temperature was 80 degrees. I was exhilarated by the warm weather. We cut pussy willows, noted the thinning ice, perused the open creek for waterfowl, listened for trumpeter swans, checked eagle nests and looked for returning hawks and songbirds.
A meeting to discuss waterfowl habitat management in the Brainerd lakes area is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Gander Mountain in Baxter.
