Waldorf College sophomore shortstop Joe Tautges of Brainerd has been named the Midwest Classic Conference baseball player of the week.
Tautges hit .476 in 21 at bats. He had a six-game hitting streak for the week, including two doubles and two home runs. He finished the six-game stretch with seven RBI, five runs scored and two walks. His slugging percentage for the week was 857.
Freshmen softball sweeps Sartell
The ninth-grade Brainerd Warrior softball team beat Sartell 12-3 and 17-4 in a doubleheader Tuesday.
In the first game, Bridget Badger secured the win and struck out seven. Ashley Olson went 3-for-3 with a double and Kate Hendrickson was 2-2.
In the second game, Kelsy Kunde got her first win of the season. Calliegh Johnson and Carolyn Sneep went 3-3 and Riley Rushmeyer went 2-3 with a home run.
