Craig K. Hayes, age 59, resident of Brainerd, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at his home.

Craig lived life with great enthusiasm. He worked very hard but always made time for that which he loved: farming, hunting, fishing, canoeing, riding motorcycle and spending time with friends and family. He had an extra affinity for his three grandchildren. Shooting sports were also very important. He believed strongly in our second amendment right and was an NRA life member. Some of his favorite targets included prairie dogs, deer, coyotes and the occasional crow.
He was born in Little Falls and graduated high school in 1968 from Little Falls. Craig had a relentless work ethic and paid close attention to detail. He attended commercial arts school and owned Hayes (telephone) Construction for over 10 years. After his splicing career he moved on to road construction, working for Bauerly Brothers then Anderson Brothers until retiring in 2007. Throughout his life he also worked on the family farm, The Rocking 'H' Ranch.
Survived by his wife, Bobbie (O'Brien); mother, Inez; sisters, Geri (McLennan) and Donna (Hinnenkamp); sons, Shawn, Kirk and Joshua; and grandchildren, Hunter, Landon and Hannah.
Preceded in death by his father, Kenneth; and first wife, Glenda (Dircks).
Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.
