Jackie Wiese, Verndale, participated in the 2008 STLF (Students Today Leaders Forever) Pay It Forward Tour over spring break. The Pay It Forward Tour is a nine-day trip across the country, where students team up with community organizations in each of the cities they visit and are faced with different social challenges. Wiese is a senior majoring in elementary education.

According to a recent report, Army re-enlistment is up 137 percent year-over-year (Fox News, March 19th). Sixty-seven thousand volunteers have re-enlisted during the last year. According to the report, a big factor is that our soldiers are training and fighting as units and feel comfortable staying in the "brotherhood." Especially helpful is the large number of lower rank officers, captain and below, who have decided to re-up.
