GARRISON -- The Garrison Seniors pancake breakfast will be 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the city of Garrison building on Central Street, four blocks west of the walleye concourse.
The menu includes sausages, coffee, milk or orange juice and all you can eat pancakes. Cost for adults is $3.50. Children age 10 and under at $2.
Sertoma Heritage Essay Contest winners listed
Winners of Sertoma's annual Heritage Essay Contest for Brainerd School District fifth-graders recently were announced:
First place, Kevin Gohman, Riverside Elementary School, $200 savings bond; second place, Riley Kline, Riverside, $150 savings bond; and third place, Gabby Metzger, Riverside, $100 savings bond.
These students along with their parents and teachers were invited to Wednesday's Sertoma meeting to read their essays. Honorable mention awards, as well as $20, were given to Heather Eldridge, Harrison Elementary School; Monica Holbrook, Harrison; Ashley Hannahs, Lincoln Elementary School; Kyria Kleckner, Family of Christ Lutheran School; Emma Kellander, Riverside; Alison Hanslip, Baxter Elementary School; and Kaitlyn Bible, Harrison.
This year's topic was "What America Means to Me."
Judges were Kathy Williams, Tami Webb, Mark Smith, Karla Nelson, Karen Owen and Pam Sachs. Bob Nibbe was contest coordinator.
