Irish roots

Music lovers can hear the strains of the Emerald Isle at the latest Grassroots Concert. Minnesota group Barra will perform Irish music 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Nisswa Community Center. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children.

FRIDAY-SATURDAY: COMEDY

Tuned in to humor

Edina comedian Mark Poolos, a former television newsman, will share his observational and family themed humor 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Scott Hansen's Comedy Gallery at the Rail in downtown Brainerd. Tickets are $5-$10. Ages 18 and older are welcome Friday; 21 and older Saturday.

SATURDAY: ART

Picture this

"Decisive Moments," the fifth annual edition of the Picturing exhibits, continues in the Central Lakes College Gallery on the Brainerd campus. And photography buffs can get the inside scoop on the art at the Picturing workshops 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday at CLC. Admission is $5 for the day of workshops and free for the gallery.

Legacy lives on

The Legacy Chorale of Greater Minnesota will get in the spirit of the season with its first two "Spring Song" concerts. The choir will perform 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the Pequot Lakes School Auditorium and 3 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church in Aitkin. Tickets are $5-$8.

SUNDAY: MUSIC

Let it be jazz

Hibbing jazzwoman Connie Evingson and her band will put a unique spin on classics by the Beatles 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Tornstrom Auditorium, Washington Educational Services Building, in Brainerd. The show concludes the Lakes Area Concert Association season.
