The first half of real estate taxes are due May 15.
If the amount of tax on any parcel is $50 or less, it must be paid in full by May 15.
Owners of commercial use real property used for seasonal residential recreational purposes (resorts) have until May 31 to pay the first half of taxes.
Commercial use real property, where more than 60 percent of gross income is earned during the months of May, June, July and August, may have the extended deadline of May 31 if an affidavit attesting to the above is attached to the payment. Forms may be picked up at the Treasurer's Office.
All parcels having a building of at least $1,000 market value have a solid waste assessment of at least $15.
Taxpayers may be eligible for a refund on their property tax from the state. Property must be homesteaded. If their income is low and tax high, they may be eligible, or if that tax payable in 2000 increased 12 percent or $100 or more from payable 1999. Filing deadline is Aug. 15. Forms may be obtained from the Department of Revenue, public library or the Treasurer's Office.
