AITKIN -- Olga B. Stropp, age 90, of Aitkin, died Thursday, April 7, 2005, at the Riverwood Healthcare Center in Aitkin.
Olga was born Feb. 27, 1915, at Chicago, the daughter of John and Anastasia Baturevich. She grew up and attended schools in Chicago and also attended college. While attending college she worked at the Hull House in Chicago. She was an elementary school teacher for a time. She married Quentin R. Stropp on Jan. 3, 1946, in Chicago. They moved to Garrison, Minn., due to Quentin's job as a forester. They lived in Garrison until 1968 when they moved into Aitkin. She has lived in Aitkin since. She has resided at the Aicota Health Care Center for the past six months. She was a member of the Doll Club, a 4-H leader, gave piano lessons, was organist at the Aitkin Christian Science Church, had worked on several boards for Garrison Township and was a member of the Bay Lake Ladies Aid.
She is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Peter Markunas, of Frankfurt, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Sticha, of Aitkin; a son, John Stropp, of Rochester, Minn.; three grandchildren and spouses, Shelley and Geoff Bradshaw, Zep and Krista Stropp, Colleen and John Schommer; and eight great-grandchildren, Justin, Deanna, Nathan, Matthew, Jacob, Alexis, Cameron and Samantha. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Quentin, in 1986.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, 2005, at 2 p.m. from the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin. Burial will be at the Diamond Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from noon until the 2 p.m. services at the funeral home.
