Deerwood Devils capture Hallett Cup

CROSBY -- The Deerwood Devils men's hockey team recently finished the Lakes Area Hockey League with a 5-3 victory over Nisswa in the championship game of the Hallett Hockey Cup playoffs at the Hallett Community Center.

Left wing Dave Niemi had four goals and defenseman Tom Savaloja had a goal and two assists to lead the Devils.

Deerwood defeated Baxter 4-2 in the semifinals.

The Devils, sponsored by Coach's Bar and Restaurant in Deerwood, finished the season with a 12-game win streak and a 12-1-1 overall record.
