Leonard L. Stelzel, 73, rural Brainerd, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at his home on North Long Lake.
He was born Feb. 7, 1930, in Dorchester, Wis., to Edward and Elizabeth (Gerlach) Stelzel. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He married Mary Leach on Oct. 14, 1950. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, the Elks Club and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; a brother, Herald Stelzel, Farmington; and a sister, Verna Bates, Farmington.
His parents died earlier.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Bill Skarich officiating. Burial will be at the Minnesota Veteran's Cemetery at Camp Ripley.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Monday, with prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, and one hour before services Tuesday at the church. Military honors will be provided by the Brainerd American Legion Post No. 255.
Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Elks Youth Camp.
