Pequot Lakes American Legion Color Guard member Jack Schmidt held the clippers as Pequot Lakes High School Principal John McDonald waited to have his mustache shaved off last week.

McDonald was not aware that inside the Pequot Lakes Patriot costume was his wife, Kristil, who had wanted her husband to shave his mustache for several years. McDonald was among four principals in the district who agreed to have hair shaved or dyed after Pequot Lakes students collected more than 15,000 pounds of food for food shelves.
