Crow Wing County Sheriff Dick Ross told the county board Tuesday about an opportunity to house six inmates at the jail annex.
He said the state is looking to sign a contract with the county for two years. The state would pay for the transportation and medical benefits for the inmates and the county would only have to house them.
Ross said the county could generate about $200,000 in revenues if it signs the contract.
Ross and Peter Herlofsky Jr., county administrator, plan to get together to discuss the contract in detail and then get back to the board.
