MINNEAPOLIS -- The Pierz Pioneers baseball team seized the momentum early and capitalized in beating the Milaca Wolves 10-3 at the Metrodome on Monday.
With the score tied 2-2 and the top of Milaca's order up, Pierz second baseman T.J. Watercott dove behind second base to reach a ground ball. He flipped it to shortstop Dan Saehr who relayed to first for a double play.
"That really got us going," Pierz head coach Dave Rocheleau said.
"John (Pohlkamp) did really well on the mound," Rocheleau added. "He only gave up four hits and three runs but all of those were unearned coming off our errors."
Pierz senior Joe Poepping was 3-for-4 with five RBI. Aaron Neu was 2-3 with a triple and three runs scored while Nate Langer was 2-3.
