ONAMIA --Grace A. Bye, 102, Onamia, died Sunday, April 9, 2000, at Mille Lacs Nursing Home of Onamia.
She was born Oct. 16, 1897, in Plankinton, S.D. to Christian and Mary Emma (Roberts) Frandsen. She graduated from Plankinton High School in 1916 and from Dakota Wesleyan University of Mitchell, S.D., in 1921 with a teaching degree. She taught school for two years in White Lake, S.D. She married Clyde O. Bye on July 25, 1923, in Plankinton. They moved to Aitkin in 1933. They moved to Onamia in 1939. Her husband died in 1990. She was a member of United Methodist Church of Onamia.
Survivors include four sons, Richard, Brainerd, Roger, New Brighton, Charles, Sandstone, and Stephen, Onamia; three daughters, Marguerite Andrews, Pelican Rapids, Avis Grosslein, Falmouth, Mass., and Janet Johnson, Scroggins, Texas; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Hugh Frandsen, San Antonio, Texas; and a sister, Jean Thomas, Bountiful, Utah.
Her husband, four brothers, Frank, Earl, John and George Frandsen, and a sister, Mamie Cornelison, died earlier.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Camp Onomia Chapel of Onamia with the Rev. Alan Clark Harris officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery of Onamia.
Friends may call at Camp Onomia Chapel from 1-2 p.m. Sunday.
