There's more to the problem than current mortgage lending practices. The expansion of unbudgeted city services has also had a huge impact - $120-plus per month assessments for improvements, approximately $4,000 to dig in and hook up, approximately $65 per month usage. Let's not forget property tax increases. The local economy doesn't currently support our local government's wish list.

I know that there have been a few patients who used marijuana, illegally, to be able to control their symptoms so that they can enjoy the days they have left. Regarding your opinion article on Thursday, April 5, I find it interesting that a newspaper would give its own opinion on the smoking ban debate. So much for unbiased reporting. Your "newspaper" claims to view this controversy as a public health issue. Sen. Mary Olson, DFL-Bemidji, views it as a nation-wide trend to protect people.

The present governor has been on a mission to protect the wealthiest Minnesotans, to protect corporation's tax loopholes and create business tax incentives at the expense of middle class taxpayers, and homeowners. We need to support plans in the Legislature requiring the wealthiest to pay their fair share and to stop the lies, shifts and gimmicks by the governor and many in his party.
