MERRIFIELD -- People squeezed into the Lake Edward Town Hall Tuesday night as nearly 80 attended a marathon township meeting.
The meeting began at 7 p.m. and lasted until 11:30 p.m. with a little hammering on the table to encourage one person to talk at a time.
The lively discussion revolved around whether the township should continue its planning committee or its comprehensive plan.
No decisions were made by the town board.
The board will reconvene the meeting Friday night to continue the discussion, but nothing will be decided until mid-May.
At issue is how Merrifield will grow, what businesses will be attracted to the community and what type of future residents want.
"It was packed," Leonard Wagner, Lake Edward Township supervisor, said of the meeting.
Wagner, who was appointed to the board about two months ago, said the three-member town board has a lot to think and talk about before a decision is made.
Wagner said there are residents on both sides of the issue -- those who want to continue the comprehensive plan and those who are not in favor of it.
"There are a lot of things I'm undecided on because I don't know all the facts," Wagner said.
