Gerry Spiess, the man who made history in 1979 by sailing his tiny boat, "Yankee Girl," across the Atlantic Ocean, will be the featured attraction at this year's fourth annual Commerce and Industry Show to be held in Brainerd.

The Brainerd School Board formally adopted a new salary schedule which results in giving teachers a 6.5 percent pay increase.

Bill Svendson, young Brainerd bowler who electrified the sport's greybeards here March 27 by rolling a 733 series, showed it was no fluke Monday night at LaGuyal Lanes as he connected for 719.
